Gone are the days of waiting for chemical processing to see an X-ray image. At Family Dentistry of Grand Prairie, we have invested in the digital radiography, or digital X-rays. This awesome technology requires 80 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays, so it’s safer for you. Digital radiography is also safer for the environment since there is no chemical processing waste, as there is with traditional radiography.
Right after we capture your X-rays, Our doctors can display them on a chairside monitor so that you can better understand their explanations of diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We want your visit to be educational so that you can leave the dental chair knowing more about your health and feeling good about your decisions for dental care.

HD-Resolution Loupes
Our doctors use the latest dental tools and technologies in order to provide you with the best service and care possible. When she performs treatment, you may notice her funny-looking glasses. These glasses are actually HD-resolution loupes that magnify the area in question so that she can see every last detail of your mouth. Intraoral Cameras
We know that not everyone has crocodile-like jaws that can open to expose their entire mouth. One of the tools that will help us see into the hard-to-reach places of your mouth without prying open your jaws is an intraoral camera.
With a long, narrow handpiece and a small camera on the end, an intraoral camera allows our doctors to see detailed images of the inside of your mouth, while you remain comfortable. A small fiber-optic light illuminates the subject while a tiny digital camera transmits images to a large screen. Intraoral cameras allow your dentist to see small details that are often missed with the naked eye, allowing for earlier diagnosis and treatment of oral health issues. Our doctors will refer to the images as they explain their findings, diagnosis, and treatment options.
This modern technology also creates a digital file that can be easily transmitted to insurance companies or specialists. Additionally, these images remain in your digital chart, allowing Dr. Park to compare them to newer images to monitor oral health changes such as tooth wear or gum recession.
Visual Oral Cancer Tests
Every checkup with Family Dentistry of Grand Prairie includes a visual oral cancer test. Like all cancer, oral cancer is much more lethal when it is not caught in the early stages. A visual oral cancer test done by our trained and compassionate hygienist she will check for oral cancer in all stages so that you can be aware of your safety.
Some risk factors of oral cancer are tobacco use, heavy alcohol use, family history, age, and excessive sun exposure. Our doctors recommend regular screenings for oral cancer, especially if you are over forty or have any of these risk factors. To begin, our doctors will listen to any concerns or questions you may have. Our goal is to listen closely to our patients so that we can communicate with them effectively. Tell our doctors if you are experiencing chronic throat pain, a change in your voice, ear aches, dramatic weight loss, change in the way your teeth fit together, or any other unexplained changes in your oral health. As a part of the screening, your dentist will gently probe the mouth, looking for sores, lumps, rough spots, or other abnormalities in the gums, lips, and other areas of the mouth.
